Snowflake Appreciation Day is to show appreciation for snowflakes which are loved by many. Snowflakes are beautiful, unique, and naturally occurring. They come in complex shapes and sizes and are divided into 35 categories. As with human fingerprints, no two snowflakes are exactly alike. Did you ever stop to think about how much we humans & snow flakes have in common? Though celebrating snow flakes I think we would could all benefit by cerebrating how unique and beautiful each of us is! We certainly are complex and come in many shapes & sizes!
Snowflakes are created when water vapor in clouds freezes around dust particles due to humidity. Typically hexagonal, snowflakes can sometimes take the form of flat, needle-shaped particles. Saltwater & fresh water snow flakes are different! The main distinction is that saltwater snowflakes would have a noticeable amount of dissolved salt, whereas freshwater snowflakes would have very little salt. Saltwater snowflakes would form from freezing seawater, while freshwater snowflakes would form from freezing freshwater like rain or melted snow. Saltwater snowflakes are be slightly denser than freshwater snowflakes due to the presence of salt. Saltwater snowflakes have a slightly lower freezing point compared to freshwater, meaning it would need to be colder to form snowflakes. So take today celebrate the actual snowflake and everyone you know as again aren’t we all like snow flakes anyway?
